GAFFI, Viatris, and MLH welcome you to the online "Unboxing Black Box of IFIs | Viatris IFI International Speaker Program." This program, focused on rare invasive fungal infections (IFIs) such as Mucor, brings together prominent experts in the field to provide insights, share knowledge, and discuss challenges in diagnosing and managing these infections.
Distinguished speaker Prof. Arunaloke Chakrabarti, the moderator for the CME, provides an overview of the event's goals, emphasizing the importance of rare fungal infections and outlining the flow of sessions. Prof. Malcom Richardson shares his insights in the session "Unboxing – Painting the Landscape of Mucor and Other Rare IFIs," where he will cover the incidence and prevalence of Mucor, Histoplasma, Fusarium, and Cryptococcus, along with current diagnostics, emerging diagnostic techniques, strategies for identifying susceptibility/resistance patterns in each of these IFIs, and guidance on selecting the appropriate antifungal treatment.
Following the speaker session, there will be two panel discussions. The first, "CENTRIFUGE – 1 – Unusual in the Usuals," explores fungal infections such as Candida auris, increasing resistance in Aspergillus, invasive aspergillosis (IA) masked as asthma, COPD, or tuberculosis, and IFIs in unusual sites, such as Aspergillus in the CNS. The second panel discussion, "CENTRIFUGE – 2 – Churning the Rare in the Rare," delves into breakthrough fungal infections and their management, DOT for LAmB in Mucor, secondary prophylaxis in Mucor, management of Cryptococcus, Histoplasma, and Fusarium infections, and IFIs in patients with autoimmune diseases.
After the panel discussions, there will be an open forum for questions and answers.
The event combines lectures, panel discussions, and interactive polling to engage attendees and deepen their understanding of IFIs in clinical practice.
