Dr. L.S.Chauhan, Director National Center of Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, has passed his Medical graduation from Medical College Shimla.in 1974 and did his post-graduation in Public Health from AIIH&PH, Kolkata, in 1986. He has more than 40 years of professional experience in diverse roles ranging from public health expert and clinician and has played a leadership role in planning as well as implementation of primary health care services in the field and in formulating national policies and their implementation at national level in various national health programs. As DDG(TB) a proven record of unprecedented accomplishment of expanding DOTS programme to provide quality diagnostic and treatment services to >1.2 billion population by March 2006. Have been an active member and contributor to international TB control policy development while serving on various WHO and Stop TB Partnership committees, notably Technical Advisory Group (STAG), DOTS Expansion Working Group and TB/HIV core Group.  Have contributed to the development of International Standards for TB Care (ISTC) and been a major contributor to WHO publication “Addressing Poverty in TB Control: Options for National TB Control Program and co-author of the book “Tuberculosis Control in India.  


As Director National Center of Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, a premier Public Health Institute of Government of India, led the Institute in the development of various national programs for implementation during 12th Five Year Plan e.g. prevention and control anti-microbial resistance (AMR), surveillance of viral hepatitis, prevention and control of leptospirosis and prevention of human deaths due to rabies. 
He has over 120 publications in various national and international journals, He has been awarded 1st Stop TB Partnership’s Kochon award for the year 2006, for his exemplary contribution to the TB control programme in India. Also received Indian Medical association Academy of Medical Specialties(IMAAMS) distinguished service award for excellent performance in academic/organizational activities in December,2007 and received P.K.Sen Gold Medal for oration on “Drug Resistance TB and RNTCP Response” at NATCON( National Tuberculosis Conference),2007. Dr. Chauhan has been awarded Dr.PRJ Gangadharam oration award for the year,2009 at Mahatma Gandhi institute Of Medical Sciences, Sevagram, district wardha, Maharashtra. Dr. Chauhan has been presented Life time achievements award by Tuberculosis Association Of India on 27th December, 2009 at Kolkata for his contribution to TB Control activities in the country.
