Dr Rajeev Gupta is currently Chairman, Preventive Cardiology, Internal Medicine and Research at Eternal Heart Care Centre and Research Institute, Mount Sinai New York Affiliate, Jaipur; Chairman of Academic & Research Development Unit at Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur; and Visiting Professor, RUHS College of Medical Sciences, Jaipur. He also Co-Chairs the Hypertension Research Group at Indian Council of Medical Research. His others positions are Distinguished Scientist, Birla Institute of Scientific Research, Jaipur and Chair, Centre for Development Communications NGO, Jaipur. He is one of the most renowned clinicians in field of preventive cardiology and internal medicine in the state of Rajasthan and has a very busy practice. He is also an excellent teacher and mentored a number of PhD, DNB, MD, MPhil and MSc fellows and has taught postgraduate and undergraduate medical students.

He is pioneer in cardiovascular epidemiology in India. Jaipur Heart Watch study, which he initiated in 1990 is the longest ongoing cardiovascular epidemiological study in the country. He is a member of steering committee of landmark transnational epidemiological studies such as PURE, INTERSTROKE, INSPIRE, CREATE, etc, and has participated in numerous national and international clinical studies. He is member of Global Burden of Disease Study Network, Seattle; and NCDRiSC Group at Imperial College, London. He has about 850 scientific publications of which more than 600 are original articles, reviews and book chapters in peer-reviewed journals and books including Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA and BMJ. His research has been supported by leading research institutions including US National Institutes of Health (NHLBI and NIDDK), Indian Council of Medical Research, Government Departments of Science and Technology, and Biotechnology.

He has been active in promoting cardiovascular disease prevention at policy, population and clinical levels. He is member of cardiovascular prevention advisory committees of Indian Council of Medical Research, Department of Health Research, Government of India; Ministry of Health, Governments of Rajasthan and Kerala; Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur and numerous non-government organizations. He is a regular participant at health promotion programs at Doordarshan (Indian national TV). He has organized and participated in cardiovascular health outreach programs and health check-up camps far and wide with participation in thousands of such activities.
