Dr Sarabjit S Chadha Chair of the WHO Global Drug Resistant TB Initiative (GDI), is a clinician by training with over 15 years’ experience of treating TB (including drug resistance TB) and public health. He is currently working with Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) as the Regional Technical Director for South-East Asia. He leads FIND’s work in TB, Covid-19 and other communicable diseases; Non-Communicable diseases and AMR in India and the SE Asia region.  

  • He has earlier worked with International Union Against TB and Lung Disease (The Union) as Deputy Regional Director heading the TB and Communicable Diseases Unit for South-East Asia.
  • He is currently the Chair of the WHO Global Drug Resistant TB Initiative (GDI) 
  • He is also a core group member of the WHO Global TB Laboratory Initiative (GLI) 
  • He is a core group member of the WHO Guideline Development Group (GDG) and External Review Group (ERG) and has contributed to the development and review of guidelines for management of drug resistant TB.  
  • He is also the co-chair of the ‘TB and Prison sub-group’ of The International Union Against TB and Lung Disease.  
  • He was earlier the Chair of the ‘WHO Regional Drug-Resistant TB Advisory Group’ for the South East Asian Region (2016-2018). 
  • He has been providing technical assistance to Nepal, Srilanka, Indonesia, India, Myanmar and Timor Leste on programmatic management of drug resistant TB. He has facilitated international courses on ‘Clinical Management of Drug Resistant TB’; ‘TB prevention and care’ and ‘TB Operational Research’. 
  • He has authored over 60 publications in international peer reviewed journals.
